ENTERPRISE WEEK - 2007-11-12

Enterprise Gym is ready to launch into the crowning event of the semester: Enterprise Week. During this week long extravaganza there will be a host of events and competitions for students to take part in and develop their skills or even just have some fun with their mates.

The Enterprise Gym is an organisation which focuses on preparing students for life after university and Enterprise Week is one of our main events for promotion and fun. During this week of activity from the 12th-16th of November, we will have the finale of the business plan competition in the form of the Dragon’s Den. This event centres round outside business men and women who are invited to listen to students final business ideas, -which will be presented on the day - and then asked to judge them creating a winner and another round of prize money to be distributed throughout the teams. Even if you are not taking part in the event it is a great one to watch and if you’ve seen the TV series you don’t want to miss this as students test themselves against local business Dragon’s.

We also have two Supercoach talks which will appeal to different sections of the community. Our first will be local hairdresser Charlie Taylor giving us an insight into her business and what makes her so successful. Secondly we have Stephen Thompson of Dundee United Football Club coming in to talk us through his success and his plans for the future. This is a must for any sports or football fans as opportunities to speak, and mingle, with influential icons such as Stephen rarely surface so grab the opportunity with both hands.

We also haven’t forgotten our promise to look out for the up and coming bands in the area as we will also be hosting an “Open Mic’ Night” in DUSA with a prize for the best band to perform. It will be a fun and rewarding event so whether you enjoy playing live, want the prize or even just a great night fuelled with music and the occasional drink, then this is the must see event for you. Don’t be disappointed if your band doesn’t win as we hope to do many more music events in the future to help forward the talent in Dundee – who knows, you could be the next “Snow Patrol” or “The View”!

With so much going on during this time it seems that if you miss this week of activity you really will miss out! For more information on any of the events mentioned above, log on to www.enterprise-gym.com. So don’t be shy, come along with friends or even by your self for a guaranteed good time. Hopefully see you all soon!
